welcome along to AiX from another who has a few of your books. The airfield focus series is great, if only I'd got the money to complete my set (only about another 60 to go!!)
Gentlemen,
I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond, but have been very busy doing research and was invited to Museum of Flight on the Centenary of Powered flight in Scotland, but event was cancelled. Prepared a talk on the First Scotsmen to fly and you may find it of interest as it has some interesting airfield information and pictures and a map of Hendon around 1911-12 showing the hangers.
The presentation is on Slideshare and can be accessed at the following:
Just realised i never posted when i originally registered! A few of you know me - Chris and Noel for about 4 years or so and quite a few others too, Richard, Jason, Jerry and Simon T to name but a few. Been on a few field trips with other members - Hemswell, Scampton and Newton.
Moved to Lincolnshire in 2004 and spent a couple of years trawling around before family and work committments curtailed that - spend a lot of time outside the uk. Currently working in the middle east again, but have always kept a keen eye on whats happening in the world of AiX.
Thanks for posting John! You've done a great job on this.
And by sheer coincidence "your" research was briefly the topic of debate at a meeting yesterday at Tollerton of the nascent AiX/ARG Digital group.
Delegates were invited to examine certain specimen items and comment on their "place" for posterity in the wider aviation hertitage environment. The CD you sent me some ago was one of those items.
The above discussion was in the context of the role of independent researchers and the fragility of their Web based and digital media in the very long term.
