I have been lurking for a few weeks and thought it was about time I signed up. There looks to be alot of useful information on here and I will chip in when I can and hope to learn a thing or two!
Your on the doorstep of history. Home Farm I guess; I'm glad the golf course hasn't encroached the airfield proper. The former Bomb Store area still has two Fuzing Points visible and they look to be the original Nissen huts.
Hi Peter,
Year its real lucky the golf club hasnt moved to far over on the air field. On the corse there is still a couple of blast shelters and they have made one of them into a toilet for the golfers. The nissen huts up at the bomb dump are original but they are in a very bad way now and getting to unstable to go inside. In one of the woods iv still got a general purpose building thats in really good order and in another wood is whats left of the shower block and toilets. Really lucky there is so much left hear really.
Thanksfor the welcome. I am based down in Sussex so there isn't all that many airfields near me. I have always been a "spotter" but have only just started exploring airfields having spent some time in east anglia during the summer holiday.
I am not one that understands binary thank god!! and I hope I am one and not a zero!! Thanks Graham!!
