Welcome SXS,

plenty of airfields in Essex during WW2 and still a lot to see before the remains disappear.

Hi Everyone. I'm an ex RAF Regiment Gunner who has guarded many airfields. I found this site whilst browsing at work and ended up on it for 4 hours. Very interesting and addictive, so I joined.

Hi SXS and welcome to the forum.

Glad you enjoyed my site and I hope you enjoy AiX too.

I am always up for having a walk around an old airfield and live about 4 miles from Thorpe Abbotts, let me know when you are next up this way!

Any questions you have just ask away!

Cheers

Welcome Geoff. Just don't spend 4 hours on it every day, as many of us seem to do .

Just noticed it's my 900th post. Hoped to make 1K before the end of the year. No chance now, and I'm well behind many posters.

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Only four hours!

Welcome. Since I joined the forum I have watched much less television so it must be a good thing, or so I have convinced myself :)

Bofors were a bit before my time. I was 84 - 06, mainly working with the Bofor replacement - Rapier. The 37 is a reminder of my 2 tours at Bruggen with 37 Sqn.
