Hi guys and thanks! Plastic melting purely and simply refers to my rather amateur efforts at building model kits! Probably not as exciting as you may have been hoping.
Hello,
Thank-you for welcoming me to your group; I am specifically interested in the 305th Bombardment Group, US8thAAF, but - having looked through some of the threads - I can see there's a wealth of information on here on a huge variety of topics which, for a researcher, is simply superb in terms of new avenues to explore!
With good wishes,
Paul Allonby
Join the club!! One thing always leads to another, but surely that is a good thing, I have lost count of all the interesting things that I have discovered since joining up here, and long may it continue.
Hello,
Thanks for your replies and your greetings. Yes, research does present tempting tangents, but....
My interest in the 305BG is primarily specific - I have written a book on the crews of 'Mi-Amigo' and 'Liberty Run', lost - with two B17s from the 92nd BG - on February 22nd 1944 on a mission to Aalborg in Denmark. Three of the aircraft were lost over Danish airspace, while 'Mi-Amigo' crashed in a park in Sheffield (see thread on here Yorkshire - memorials). (see also www.facebook.com/EndcliffeParkB17
)
Research into the crash of 'Mi-Amigo' led to the project expanding to cover other crews (including two German fighter pilots) lost on that day; now it's a question of finding out more about the missions the 305 flew between Nov 1943 and February 1944 - and their unit, 364 Squadron in particular, for a second edition!
So, once again, thank-you for the warm welcome...I'm just going to have a wander around the Forums....I suspect I may be some time!
Good wishes,
Paul Allonby
I'm Jude and I'm based at Gloucestershire Airport, Kemble and Brize.
I've had my PPL(A) just over 2 years and it's the best thing I've ever done
I found this site by accident while looking for somewhere to land a Eurostar (EV97) this coming Tuesday or Wednesday for a meeting in Croydon, Surrey, as been denied access to Biggin Hill.
Usually fly C150/152, sometimes a C172; PA 28's; a couple of hours LH SR20 and anything else I can my sticky little mitts on.
