And this is probably the building that the farmer was on about looks to me like a flight office:

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

Hi to fellow airfield buffs.;-)
My name is Ian i am interested in all things related to Bomber Command.
I have been studying wartime airfield buildings for the past 30 years.
I was a member of the ARG for many years and also their secretary for a couple.:o
I am curently building a diorama of the Technical site of my local wartime airfield and during the course of research have visited many former BC airfields and photographed numerous buildings. I have also produced a number of plans to aid my diorama.
Already had a peek at the site and there are many interesting articles to enjoy. Still need to navigate around the site in order to be able to post photos etc as the need arises.
Looking forward to discussing topics inthe near future with like-minded souls.
rgds
Ian

Hello you would not be the infamous (I mean famous) Ian Reid by any chance. Either way welcome to the forum.

Ian - where have you been all these years? Great to see you back.

Ian is the author of 'To Fly over Waltham' - the definitive history of RAF Grimsby. Just looked it up and it seems to be out of print. It's a great book and guess what - there's a space on my bookshelf where it used to live. Who have I loaned it to?.

Re: I've been away for a while; (Two books later) Thank heaven for that, I thought 'being away for a while' meant you'd been 'away' for a while - courtesy of Stradishall, Lindholme, Acklington, Millom or one of the many other homes of rest :D.

Someone please remind me, what is the AiX initiating ceremony we perform on ex-ARG committee members?
