Quick update, Paul, if you are interested...

I've started playing with Sketchup myself, trying to make a little generic hangar, and as a result have also tried to convert from Sketchup to .mdl for use inside the sim. The latest build of ModelConverterX will, indeed, do the job, but you need to be careful of three things:

1) texture files need to be square, and to a power of 2 (i.e. 512x512, 1024x1024, 2048x2048, etc.) - almost none of the Sketchup internal textures are.
2) Export from Sketchup as .DAE, as that is what MCX imports and converts to .MDL from.
3) Yeah, you can bust the poly limits on FSX models very easily, let alone FS9 models. Curves in particular are killers.

Hope that's of use?

Chris: Very nice!

Cheers,

Ian P.

Done a bit more work on my watch office, things like theodolite pillars are now on but you can't really see what I've been doing lately as it's mostly internal, such as the rendered dado rail.

Yes, I was reading about the Marham-based Washingtons being hand-polished for the Coronation Review and thought I'd better buff it up a little...
