Don't remember a Javelin at West Raynham when I was posted there in 1969. The Stafford Jav (in full 87 Sqdn markings) was one of the earlier Mks with the "pen nib" exhausts, whereas photos of the Raynam A/C show one of the later after burning type.
Seems there were two Javelins at Stafford including FAW 2 XA801, one at the main gate and one in front of the former barrack block which housed the RAF Youth Selection Centre
Does anyone know what happened to the Meteor NF9 that was at RAF Patrington during the late 60's early 70's. I was a roadie for a group that did a gig there a couple of times, and have always wondered what happened to it!
The Meatbox at Patrington was Meteor NF14 WS788 which arrived there in 1967 and moved to Leeming in 1974 were it was displayed next to SHQ and became 'WS844' for a short while before moving to YAM at Elvington in 1990 . It went back to Leeming in 1991 to be refurbished and returned to YAM as its original WS788 on 17 March 1992 . It is still there and is displayed outside the workshop building opposite the Canadian Hangar . See photos 9 and 14 ;

Just found this thread. some great pics there! What I would like to know is, did Bentwaters, Woodbridge and Upper Heyford ever have gate guards, and if so, are there any pics? I know Lakenheath has the F-100, and Alconbury the replica F-5, so it would be strange if the others never did. Even Croughton has two!! Did these come from other bases? An F-105 seems an odd choice for the UK. Nice though!!
Edit: Just read that Croughton's Super Sabre came from Upper Heyford when that closed, so that clears that one up!
